Projects: Damon Thompson Facebook
I have a couple of pro bono projects that I work on for various groups and individuals, one of those projects is managing Damon Thompson’s web presence. My wife and I consider Damon to be a friend and we have supported his ministry since before we got married.
I took over management of Damon’s web presence earlier this year with our primary goal being to setup his staff with an easy to use content management system that they could utilize to post his frequent speaking engagements around the country as well as handling his booking inquiries. I launched the first phase of his project a while back and it has gotten a lot of traffic since it’s launch as well as good comment participation.
This past week I have been working on another ministry website for a client in Fresno, California who has an affiliation with Damon’s ministry and this got me started toward the idea of sharing audio sermons and podcasting between the two websites. I was able to utilize a couple of popular wordpress plugins to make this happen pretty easily, in the process of getting this setup I also gave the site a facelift and incorporated his RSS feed into a Facebook page that I created for him. Facebook pages are something that I have spent a lot of time lately researching because of their position of prominence within the large social network.
As of today the ministry page on Facebook has already picked up close to 20 followers. I am anxious to watch the Facebook community grow out of control. If you are interested in seeing Damon’s redesigned website, click here, or his facebook page, click here.
