Wimpy’s Burgers & Fries

wmpclogoThis next month Conway will witness the grand opening of Wimpy’s Burgers and Fries in the Towne Centre Shopping Center across the parking lot from the all-new Cinemark Theatre. Wimpy’s will serve an array of American food ranging from our Signature Wimpy Burger to soft serve ice cream, click here to see full menu.

The Conway location is still in the process of being renovated but everything is coming along right on schedule. This past week some of you might have noticed that the new copper roof went on and the new wood floors are actually being put down today. To create a family friendly, entertaining, atmosphere Wimpy’s will also will have flat screen HDTV’s around the dining area as well as free public WI-FI access. As of right now there are also plans to add outdoor patio seating sometime down the road…

If you want to learn more about Wimpy’s you can visit www.wimpysconway.com, that lists the menu, news and information related to the grand opening, and links to download job applications. Also, to build momentum and boost awareness prior to the grand opening, Wimpy’s is using social media to give away free food to random friends on Facebook and Twitter, so if you haven’t already, I recommend following the links to Facebook and Twitter above and connecting with Wimpy’s.

If you are interested in being a part of the Wimpy’s team, please download the Employment Application below and either return it by mail to: Wimpy’s Burgers & Fries, 28 Sutherland Road, Conway, Arkansas 72032, or you can email it here…  (Download Employment Application: Application for Employment (doc) / Application for Employment (pdf))

Launched: Sonia Bell Insurance

Since the first of the year I have been working w/ Sonia Bell Insurance Agency in Conway to establish a web presence for them. Sonia Bell has been with Nationwide Insurance for 30 years and has been a fixture in the Conway business community for over 26 years. Recently Sonia and her team moved their offices from Locust Street to her new location at 1155 Front Street.

Since we were starting from scratch with this project I worked closely with Sonia and her team to establish a design and sitemap for the project as well as providing photography and social media consulting. The end product for the project is an extremely usable website with lots of useful information pertaining to their products and services.  You may visit the new Sonia Bell Insurance website by clicking on the screenshot below…

Let’s Make History in 2011

pleth-logo-new[1]Usually this time of year everyone starts setting goals or resolutions for the new year. Some of these goals we reach, or at least come close enough that we feel good about them. Some not so much.  This year I am keeping it simple, instead of just saying that I want to be successful in 2011, I want to make history in 2011. If you share this mindset for the coming year I wish you all the best…

Shameless Plug: Let Pleth Help You Achieve Your Dreams! If your goal for 2011 is to follow your dream and open your own business, I wish you nothing but success.  If your business goals consist of an online presence, I encourage you to reach out to our team at Pleth so that we can assist you from the ground floor in bringing your dreams to fruition. We have offices in Batesville, Jonesboro, and Conway and would love to be a part of your project. You can reach us toll free at: 1-888-276-0848…

Tech Conference in Arkansas?

arkansas-tech-conference-technology-state-graphicThis past week I was asked to submit an idea to the Arkansas Times magazine for their “Big Ideas” section of their publication.  I basically threw out the idea of having a technology conference in Arkansas similar to South by Southwest Interactive or Tahoe Tech Talk, you can read my idea on the Arkansas Times Website. They had to edit it down for size but the point I was going for was that we basically have the network or backbone to support the conference in place through various groups like the Central Arkansas Refresh and similar groups in Jonesboro and Northwest Arkansas. We also have some experience in putting together tech related events, I referenced Barcamp Conway, Barcamp Jonesboro, and Wordcamp Fayetteville in the article.

Since the article ran I have had several emails and phone calls from individuals and organizations wishing to get involved in bringing this idea to fruition.  I don’t think that there is any doubt that a lot of people are on board with the idea, I have had this discussion with Steven Trotter, Brant Collins, Arlton Lowry, and Keith Crawford a hundred times, but I guess the next question is what’s next?  I have given this a lot of thought and even bounced the idea off of several friends within the community that I know are on board and I think the next step is to form a steering committee that will help define the idea and put together a business plan that can be shopped around for support.

One thing that I do not want to happen w/ this idea is for a lot of people to put in their time and hard work and there not be enough support in place to do it up right.  Granted, the Barcamps that we had this year in Jonesboro and Conway were awesome but I envision this event to be something that will attract a large crowd from around the world to Arkansas. I would also like to see an all-star roster of speakers and thought leaders from throughout the industry headlining this event.  I also have some ideas that are unique in format that could help the Arkansas Tech Conference stand out.

I would love your input, drop your thoughts / comments below.  I have several phone calls and people to follow up with this next week regarding this topic so as things come together I will post updates here…

  • What are your thoughts on a Tech Conference in Arkansas?
  • How do you propose we get the ball rolling?

Launched: UCA SGA

Last week we launched a new website for the University of Central Arkansas Student Government Association, ucasga.org. I was the lead developer for this project and worked closely w/ the student government leadership and their advisors to hammer out all of the details.  This entire project is built upon WordPress CMS with the exception of one custom application that I developed and integrated into the website for managing their voting records. Stay tuned to the Pleth corporate website for additional press release regarding this project.

Current Projects: Knapp Law Firm

Recently I have been working on a project for the Knapp Law Firm in Helena, Arkansas.  The Knapp Firm specializes in Commercial Litigation, Personal Injury, Tax Litigation, and Bankruptcy.  In addition to web development on this project I also designed their logo seen in the screenshot below.

Since the website is still being reviewed by the client, I can’t provide the URL for the project as of yet but stay tuned to the Pleth corporate website for press releases and launch announcements.

Current Projects: Elan Spa

I recently launched a new website for Elan Spa here in Conway.  When I met w/ Daneen, the owner, she informed me that she really didn’t want a lot of bells and whistles on the site, just a clean, basic layout w/ her products & services, hours of operation, and basic contact information.  Since there isn’t a lot of functionality I think the project came together pretty quickly including an afternoon to code a wordpress theme and another 20 minutes to do some onsite photography of her shop.  I think the end result turned out pretty well…

In addition to website design / development this project I am going to also propose that they also allow us to assist them in establishing a social media strategy for them as well.  I can see a lot of potential for a small business like Elan to grow their client bases through the use of social media.  Stay tuned…

Current Projects: UCA SGA

This past month I have been juggling several projects and I haven’t been updating my blog w/ updates like normal. The truth is I have had a lot of open projects here and there that I haven’t been able to wrap up for various reasons out of my control, I hope this week I am able to gain some ground on these daunting tasks. One project that I have probably spent the majority of my time on recently is for the University of Central Arkansas’s Student Government Association.

This project is built on WordPress 3.0 w/ BuddyPress (MU) and it has some dynamic components and plugins that I have been hacking away at for the past 2 weeks.  I finally found some really awesome resources for BuddyPress online and I plan on blogging about those in the very near future as well so stay tuned for that.  In the meantime, here’s a screenshot of the UCA SGA project, the site hasn’t launched yet so this is the best I can do for a teaser.

Stay tuned for more information about this project in the coming weeks…  BuddyPress is an awesome animal once you get your head around it’s capabilities.

Project: Fayetteville Shale

I recently launched a new website for the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund.  I have actually had this project open for a while now awaiting content.  I think the end product turned out very well.  I used Woo Themes as the foundation for this project and it fit very well into my design for them.

In the very near future visitors to this website will have the ability to register for annual fishing and golf tournaments held by the Fayetteville Shale Scholarship Fund.  Stay tuned for details when that functionality is integrated.

Project: WordPress Theme

One of the coolest things about WordPress in my opinion is that when a client calls and wants a redesign or a fresh look for their website, it’s just a matter of sitting down and coding a new theme.  I launched Indian Hills Country Club first in 2001 and we have redesigned the website 3 times since then, this is the first dramatic departure from their initial design that we have attempted. I used Studiopress education theme as my foundation for this design but you can tell from the finished product I spent a couple of hours this evening coding CSS and knee-deep in Photoshop.  We haven’t launched the project yet, it’s still pending review but here’s a sneak peak.

Note the new logo for the club, the simple feather w/ 1973 below it.  That’s something else I put together for them a few weeks ago to commemorate the year they were established.  As another sidenote, I have heard some great things about the course at IHCC recently and I am looking forward to playing there very soon…
