Pleth Co-Sponsors Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival

abhf-logo-300 Pleth Networks, LLC partner and co-founder Cotton Rohrscheib announced Monday that his firm would be co-sponsors of the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival in Helena, Arkansas this year along with a host of other soon to be announced companies and organizations supporting this years event.  An early listing of supporters can be found on the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival website later this week.

“The Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival, or the Biscuit as some people like to remember it, has always been one of the best outdoor music experiences out there in my opinion, that’s saying a lot because I have attended a lot of festivals including Alabama June Jam, Memphis in May, Beale Street Music Festival, and Little Rock’s Riverfest!  The ABHF is also a homecoming of sorts for those of us that grew up in the Delta and it provides an excellent setting to reconnect with some old friends,” said Rohrscheib.

Pleth recently launched the newly-redesigned website for the ABHF (Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival) and is also providing consulting services to the festival leadership committee in regards to social media, e-commerce, and web promotion.

“I am honored to have a small role with the festival this year! I have been working very closely with some old friends on the project and making a few new ones as well.  It’s been a lot of fun reconnecting with everyone.  Our goal so far is to just establish a presence on the web and point everyone to that central location for information.”

“Over the years a lot of unfortunate things have taken place that more or less left the ABHF without a web presence up until this week.  My partners and I assisted them with reclaiming their domain name and to launch phase 1 of the project.  Things are starting to come together thanks to the help of volunteers that keep feeding me information as they get it.  We still have a pretty good way to go before we are where we need to be, but each day we are inching closer!” added Rohrscheib.

About The Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival
It’s when Delta Blues fans head on down to Helena, AR for 3 days of the best Blues in the Delta. The King Biscuit Blues Festival began in 1986 as a one-day musical tribute to the Blues roots of Helena and the man at those roots, Sonny Boy Williamson. The "King Biscuit" in its name stems from the fact that Sonny Boy Williamson was a founding performer on King Biscuit Time,a live Blues program on the radio. The program was sponsored by King Biscuit Flour.

What started out as a small festival has gained a reputation throughout the nation and always draws a big crowd. Despite all the growth, the festival organizers have remained loyal to their roots. The festival is still dedicated to the Blues as performed by the musicians that were directly or indirectly influenced by Sonny Boy and his contemporaries. These artists include Pinetop Perkins, James Cotton, Robert Lockwood, Jr., Billy Branch, Kim Wilson of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Anson Funderburgh and the Rockets featuring Sam Myers, Charlie Mussellwhite, Frank Frost, Sam Carr and a host of others. The festival has four stages and it is estimated that over 100,000 people will be in attendance this year. They have dozens of Blues musicians and even a Gospel stage. The lineup for 2009 has not been announced but will be listed on the ABHF website when it becomes available.

conway_log_cabin_democrat Mike Allen from the Conway Log Cabin Democrat Newspaper came by yesterday and interviewed me in regards to our new NascarView project.  Below you will find the article from this mornings newspaper and online edition.

There’s a new Web site designed for NASCAR fans that was launched this year, and the results have been a big hit across the nation.

Cotton Rohrscheib, who’s now working out of his home office in Conway, along with other team members, Stephen and Greg Smart, purchased the Web site NascarView.com four years ago. After presenting NascarView.com to Web viewers this year, the site has exploded in the amount of support from viewers and advertisers.

"This is a Web site geared for the fans," Rohrscheib said. "We offer a family friendly Web experience and monitor profanity or mature content from being posted. We keep it rated G, so we want the whole family to be able to use the site."

The Web site covers four areas of the sport. It has feature stories, which includes some of the biggest names in NASCAR. Team ownership and the driver’s news are also covered in depth by the Web site. NascarView.com also recaps and previews the past and future races.

"It just seemed like it was a need for a family-friendly NASCAR Web site that people of all ages can get on and take part in," Rohrscheib said. "This way people can have sort of sense of some community and social networking. Out of the 10 years that I’ve been building Web sites, this site is probably in the top two or three in terms of growth. It’s gotten that big."

NascarView.com is the only Web site that uses a Facebook connect at this time, which means Facebook users can automatically login to NascarView.com using their Facebook accounts. The Web site also just hit the 1,000 mark for followers on Twitter.com. It was recently the ninth highest Twitter feed on Twitter.com, according to wefollow.com.

"With MarkMartin.com, we already had a list of people who knew who we were," Rohrscheib said. "We’ve basically built relationship with guys over the years working in the sport. … Different guys have kind of helped us get the word out."

The Web site also features two popular podcasts: The Final Lap Radio and the Phatguys Fantasy Podcast. Rohrscheib has been a frequent guest on both. He is also good friends with NASCAR driver and Batesville native Mark Martin. According to Rohrscheib, the Web site’s biggest feature is Live Racing Chat, which takes place during the cup series races on Sundays. Bloggers from around the nation discuss the events that happen during the course of the race. The Live Racing Chat is also moderated by Cooter, who inputs in-car audio from the drivers during the race. So, fans can read what their favorite NASCAR driver is saying during the race.

"It’s an information-heavy (Web site)," Rohrscheib said. "We get our revenue from advertising on the site, so we’re looking for anyone who wants to advertise or sponsor."

Rohrscheib is also the co-founder of Pleth Networks, LLC. This year it was awarded the Best of Show for the Interactive Category by the American Advertising Federation for www.thechurchalive.org. They beat out 60,000 entrants in the Addy competition. Pleth, with 500 clients worldwide, has offices in Conway, Batesville and Jonesboro.

The Church Alive Wins Best of Show!

As I mentioned earlier in the week, Pleth Networks, LLC was the proud recipient of 4 silver and 1 bronze Addy Awards at the 2009 NEA Adfed Banquet held in Jonesboro, Arkansas.  In addition to the silver and bronze awards, we were also honored to have one of our entries, The Church Alive, chosen as this years coveted best of show for Interactive media.  It has been a hectic week and I haven’t been able to blog about the award until now.

The Church Alive project has been a pet project of mine for the past year or so, and it is also where my wife and I attend church. My partners and I could not be more proud of this award, it’s our first Best of Show award from the American Advertising Federation.  Below is a screenshot of our winning entry:

I would also like to say congratulations to all of the other winners at this years Addy Awards.  If you are not familiar with the NEA Adfed or the American Advertising Federation, here’s a little information about the group:

AAF-Northeast Arkansas is made up of members who manage, buy, sell, create, produce, teach or study advertising, marketing, public relations or related fields.

AAF-NEA exists to bring together those interested in advertising/marketing for an active exchange of ideas. We strive to provide our members with professional development, recognition and networking opportunities. AAF-NEA is a local affiliate of the American Advertising Federation, a national organization that represents the Advertising industry.

Building a stronger advertising community through education and networking by promoting advertising as an essential element of the Northeast Arkansas economy and culture.

Also, here is a photo of the “best of show” trophy.  I currently have it at my office in Conway, but I am going to have to eventually give it up to go on display at our office in Batesville unless we can get duplicates made of it.  It sure looks great on my bookcase!!!

Central Arkansas Refresh Meetup

In case you missed David Kincade’s post on The Arkansas Project this morning, we are going to have our first Central Arkansas Refresh Group Meetup this next Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Starbucks (9401 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, AR) this next week.

We plan on hooking up around 6:00 or so and kind of setting the stage for this unique group.  If you are interested in the meetup, here’s a link to our Facebook Event Page:

A couple weeks back I posted about this little group of Central Arkansas technology enthusiast types that Cotton Rohrscheib, area web guru/tech wizard/blogger/NASCAR fan, is looking to launch for networking and education purposes. Remember that?

Well, good news: We’ve set the inaugural meet-up for Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. in Little Rock, at the Starbucks on 9401 N. Rodney Parham Road. (A location somewhat arbitrarily arrived at because several of the interested parties may be coming from Conway and it has reasonably ready access to I-430. We may find another venue for future gatherings, once we have a better sense of who’s attending.)

This inaugural meeting will help us to develop a fuller organizational sense of who’s actually interested, what kind of topics we want to explore, how frequently we want to meet — mostly a ‘get to know you and swap ideas’ session to determine how we can make this a constructive venture for all involved.

You don’t necessarily have to be a hands-on tech wizard programmer type to join up — maybe you’re a blogger or an avid social media user or a chronic Internet porn consumer or just an all-purpose nerd with an abiding interest in the Web and technology issues. That’s fine; the more the merrier. Though probably the fewer the chronic Internet porn consumers, the better. I mean, a couple would be OK, but let’s not go overboard.

Go to our Facebook group page to get involved (or if you’re a hold-out who refuses to get on Facebook, just show up Tuesday).

New Pleth Logo

We are unveiling our new logo today just in time for the Northeast Arkansas Advertising Federation Banquet this weekend.  The logo was designed by our good friend Melissa Powell at Powell Creative.

Thanks Melissa, we know how hard we are to work with on client projects so working with us on our own branding had to closely resemble a root canal.  At any rate, thanks for your hard work, we love the new logo.  I would love to hear input from some of my readers on the new logo too…

Launched: Odis Richmond Ministries

I just launched a project for Odis Richmond Ministries a few minutes ago. Some of you might remember that I blogged about Odis’s project earlier in the week.  The website still lacks some content but I am going to be working with Odis and his team (Coretta) to get this content added as soon as possible.

We are also planning to add a video welcome message to the homepage as well, this should be online around the first of next week.  If you want to check out the website, please visit: www.odisrichmond.com.

Pleth wins 4 Addy’s

addy_awards.jpg ( Image)

My business partners and I received notification this evening that 4 of our client projects had won Addy Awards.  We are not for sure what level our projects placed in the competition, but we are pretty excited.  We will find out on February 21 in Jonesboro during the Awards Banquet.  Last year we picked up one Addy for a project that we collaborated on with Powell Creative.

Our 4 clients that were chosen were: The Church Alive, Arkansas State University Convocation Center, University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, and G.W. Palmer Logistics.  We also had some print entries for a few of these clients as well that were being judged.

If you are unfamiliar with the AAF Addy Awards, here’s a brief explanation:

With over 60,000 entries annually, the ADDY® Awards are the world’s largest and arguably toughest advertising competition. The ADDY® Awards represent the true spirit of creative excellence by recognizing all forms of advertising from media of all types, creative by all sizes and entrants of all levels from anywhere in the world. The American Advertising Federation, a not-for-profit industry association conducts the ADDY® Awards through its 200 member advertising clubs and 15 districts. It is the only creative awards program administered by the advertising industry for the industry.

UACCB Unveils New Website

This is the official press release regarding the recent launch of the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s new website which was developed by Pleth, LLC.

BATESVILLE – The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville recently unveiled its new website at www.uaccb.edu.

During the construction process, the campus held several meetings with faculty and staff to determine needs for the site.  Focus groups were conducted with students to determine what they liked. After completing a request for proposal, Pleth, LLC, an interactive development company located in Batesville, was awarded the project.

“Our goal in redesigning the website was to make it more user friendly, informative, and attractive for our students and the community,” said Brian Berry, vice chancellor for enrollment management and student services. “I hope everyone will find the site helpful and visit it often.”

The new site is easier to navigate and includes additional information. New to the site are news central and important events. The site also uses a Twitter feed, which is a free service that lets individuals keep in touch with what’s happening at UACCB.

“Pleth was excited to bring an updated site to our area for UACCB. UACCB has so much to offer,” said Stephen Smart, partner. “The new site takes the UACCB campus, staff and opportunities beyond the physical location with a more efficient and informative site able to tell the UACCB story to potential students. We are proud of the end result and are excited for UACCB.”
