Not for sure if the Little Rock version of the Central Arkansas Refresh has anything going on this month but I will try to find out and post something if they do. But, tomorrow night the Conway #RefreshCA group is meeting around 6pm at Michelangelos in Downtown Conway for a discussion on Git, presented by none other than Pleth lead developer Craig McCoy. This should be a good meetup, if you are in the area I highly recommend stopping by. All meetings are totally free and open to the public.
If you are unfamiliar w/ Git, here’s a brief rundown: Git is a free & open source, distributed version control system designed to handle everything from small to very large projects with speed and efficiency. Every Git clone is a full-fledged repository with complete history and full revision tracking capabilities, not dependent on network access or a central server. Branching and merging are fast and easy to do. Git is used for version control of files, much like tools such as Mercurial, Bazaar, Subversion, CVS, Perforce, and Visual SourceSafe.
