Why You Should Watch Women’s Soccer!
Okay so I roll over this morning and start my Saturday like every other Saturday and flip on ESPN and try to find Gameday but this news story caught my eye. Apparently NCAA Women’s Soccer just got exciting, thanks to Elizabeth Lambert, wonder if she is related to Jack Lambert from the Pittsburgh Steelers?
Update: There are already several Elizabeth Lambert fan clubs starting to pop up on Facebook. This might just be the shot in the arm that Women’s Soccer has needed. I have been saying for years that they should turn it into more of a catfight and a lot less of the running up and down the field. If you haven’t seen this video yet, you have got to see this:
Best Buy’s $10 Television
Yesterday morning about this time there was a mad dash of people trying to get on Best Buy’s website to cash in on a $9.99 flat-screen television. Obviously this was a huge typo on Best Buy’s end, but before they could catch it online they already had sold no telling how many televisions.
Obviously, Best Buy is not going to make good or honor the purchases that came through on their website, especially in this economy. I heard a lot of people yesterday complaining that the lucky ones who were able to get in orders should get their televisions. Fortunately for Best Buy, they had a store policy in place that covered their tails, the people who jumped on this bargain will all get refunds in the mail, likely in the form of a best buy gift card.
If you missed the story, here’s a snippet from the Associated Press. And, if you own an online store of any kind, this might be an awesome opportunity to review your stores posted policies.
Few if any of the deals retailers have offered online during the recession have been as good as Best Buy Inc.’s sale price of $9.99 on a 52-inch TV Wednesday. But it quickly turned out the offer was too good to be true.
The electronics retailer said it will not honor the $9.99 price posted Wednesday morning on its Web site for a 52-inch Samsung flat-screen TV. By early afternoon, the TV was listed at $1,799.99, almost half off the original $3,399.99 price.
Bloggers and Twitterers lit up the Internet with posts about the offer, some insisting Best Buy must honor it, others making jokes.
Best Buy, based in Richfield, Minn., said it has corrected an online pricing error and will not honor the incorrect price. Orders made Wednesday morning at the incorrect price will be canceled and customers will receive refunds, the company said.
Appeal says Juror sent ‘tweets’ during $12M case
I honestly could not be prouder of my home state for being the stage of this judicial nightmare. A company is apparently appealing a ruling against them for $12.6 million dollars because a juror in the case was apparently getting his “twitter” on during the hearings.
It wouldn’t have been near as funny though if he had just been tweeting his buddies to say he was running late or something, but noooo, he went on to rant about the company who was being sued and their product, ha. He also bragged about giving away $12 million dollars of someone else’s money, wow! This probably isn’t over anytime soon, and I can bet you anything this will come up at our next Refresh meetup!
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A building materials company and its owner have appealed a $12.6 million verdict against them, alleging that a juror was posting related messages on Twitter.com while hearing the case.
The motion filed Thursday seeking a new trial claims the juror sent eight messages — or “tweets” — to the micro-blogging Web site via his cellular phone. One read in part: “oh and nobody buy Stoam. Its bad mojo and they’ll probably cease to Exist, now that their wallet is 12m lighter.”
Another describing what “Juror Jonathan” did today, read: “I just gave away TWELVE MILLION DOLLARS of somebody else’s money.”
The motion filed by the lawyer for Russell Wright and his company, Stoam Holdings, alleges the juror researched the case and communicated with others outside the jury. Wright did not appear in court when the case was heard in Washington County in late February.
The jury awarded the money to Mark Deihl and William Nystrom, who invested in Wright’s company. The company claimed its building material, Stoam, combines the insulation qualities of foam with the strength of steel.
“It was nothing more than a Ponzi scheme,” said Deihl’s attorney, Greg Brown. “(Bernie) Madoff is a very comparable case.”
A new message posted Friday by a Johnathan Powell of Fayetteville read: “Well, I’m off to see a judge. Hope they don’t lock me under the jail, and forget about me for four days.”
Powell did not respond to messages for comment. A clerk for the judge said no hearings were scheduled over the matter Friday.

Do Your Karate…
This is a hilarious video from Poland of all places of some animal show where they bring in a Bear who is supposed to be all lovable and tame but he quickly turns on the lady and mauls her. Fortunately I think that everyone made it out okay but it sure does make for a pretty funny minute and a half. Notice the Man with the Stick and his valuable contribution to the whole ordeal. The first video is from a British Comedy show where they really have a ball w/ it and the second is the actual footage I managed to locate on YouTube.com that has a little better footage. At any rate, I agree, Man with Stick should get the award for most inneffective assistance…
Conference Call…
